COVID booster, egg n chips, Foyle and Gently

This morning I got my COVID booster from a very nice nurse at the minute clinic who exclaimed in wonder at my intact memory, driving, daily exercise etc.

She tells me all this is rare in my age group. I expect so, since most of my agemate friends are dead, so they're not really competing.

I'm certainly very grateful about it, and take just a bit of credit, but there's luck to factor in, too. While I was there, I left ACLU  know your rights cards, Spanish language, in the waiting area. Sand in the gears.

Just in case of a reaction to the vax, I've picked up the next Foyle season. I'm ready. I still have that jigsaw puzzle, too, that I haven't got around to yet.

Oh, and my lab results are all normal, yay. So I had anchovy toast for tea! Throwing salt caution to the wind for once.

I did a bit more weaving yesterday and had to massage my hand this morning, ow, thumb stiff and grudging.

Meanwhile I'm going to get in some walking today to make sure of it.  And some weights and stretches.  Most of the weird kinks in my left leg muscles and tendons are worked out now, high time. No more peculiar little spasms and jumping tendons.

I guess they've recovered from being pushed aside during the surgery. They had also shortened because of the joint lameness, so they had to stretch back to fit. All good.

Friday is about simple comfort food -- roasted potato dice with a cheese omelette mit der spinach thrown in to wilt.

Dessert chocolate covered raisins...all food groups covered.

My afternoon attempts to rest and whine about my instantly sore arm were repeatedly interrupted by door related issues.  Help wrap the paint rollers so Gary could get lunch, confirm the door was dry enough to flip and do the other side, produce a little stool to enable cutting up of the old door for the garbage requirement. Etc.

I really can't complain considering how much is being done for me.  But I plan to anyway.

Meanwhile the beautiful new door is in place.

No more cringing to see a ragged delaminated bottom edge of it. It's lovely.

Happy day everyone, evening online with me buds, lot of royal talk.

Anyone with a cat already has education in Royal talk.  Can you see her crown?

  1. I saw COVID in the title and took a breath. Glad it’s the shot and not the illness. I can’t believe the door problem has finally been resolved. It looks sleek!

    1. I edited to make it less jarring. Don't want to make people jump. I keep admiring and opening and shutting my lovely door! It's going to be strange not conferring endlessly about it.

  2. The C-shots have never affected me. I usually don’t even get a sore arm. Some others do suffer a bit though, and I understand that some elderly don’t keep up with the boosters because of this.

    1. My son doesn't have much if any reaction, either. I do it for the family! It would be foolish to avoid boosters though, bro much better than the illness. Likewise shingles, which I was felled by. But I kept thinking how much worse the illness must be if this is what it took to fight it off.

  3. Ha ha! Got my COVID boost yesterday also. Did what I saw a nurse doing once, lots of arm swinging right after to get it to disburse. Still a bit sore. I must remember not to be drinking coffee while reading your blogs. Almost did another splutter all over the laptop (which really is dirty already - who me?). Had to do with most of my agemate friends being dead...oh yes! But I do have one older friend by 3 years still kicking (and really doing well!)

    1. I've tried that arm swinging. I ended up with the same swollen arm, achy also tired! For some people it works though. Younger people disapprove of death jokes..

  5. We have not yet been offered another booster. I may not be offered one at all, but Dave should eventually get one since his Crohn's medication leaves him immunocompromised. I'll get one if the NHS offers it.

    1. Mine was offered to people over 65 only. Also I guess immunocompromised people.

  6. The moon must have been in "door fix completion" yesterday. Hooray!
Maybe your reaction to the shot won't be so bad this time. See? I'm being optimistic! But seriously, I hope not.

    1. I've noticed less reaction each time. Maybe my system has got the hang of it now.

  7. We like spinach just wilted like that too. It is too tough for my liking when it is raw!

    1. Yes, just between raw and cooked through. It wilts rapidly in cooked soup, or just rested on hot food.

  8. I will have to check and see if I can get a Covid booster. I've never had a problem with them. Glad you are feeling good!

  9. I've contributed to the ACLU in the past. We need that organization more than ever.

    1. I have membership and a monthly recurring donation. It's good when an organization knows what contributions are expected, easier for planning.

    1. I think cooking from scratch, even simple food beats prepared meals. You know what you put in. And I'm pretty sure you feel well if you eat from ingredients, rather than bags o snax.

  12. You can complain, but I find no one listens to me.
At least we listen to each other.
The new door does look lovely

    1. All we need is one listener! I don't have a lot to complain about, to be honest.

    1. I like food on a white plate, and I agree, these plates do work well. Maybe the green color doesn't fight with the food. I'm quite picky!

    1. Yes, get every shot while the getting's good! I was really happy the labs were normal, a great sign after the surgery. My doctor had said she really wanted to be sure I was all back.
