Victory lap. Stretch goal met.

It's been nearly a year since I made it to the retention pond, because of Helen the Arthritic Hip. Now Titanium Hippolyta has restored my walk. Monday's feat.

And to prove it and celebrate

Half way there, lovely sweeping view

There! Seeing the water, listening to a Carolina wren, looking for frogs and turtles, not today. The water is high after the rains

This was probably a half hour plus round trip walk on rough ground. And this is what I planned on,  through the prep and exercise, to get to this point. Hippolyta was a bit tired, nothing more. We got this!

Happy day everyone! Mine certainly is. Immediate Monday plans: coffee, lunch, read on deck probably becoming nap on deck.

  7. Good for you! One really nice thing about having the fosterdog here was walking early in the morning and late in the evening - things I haven't done since losing Piper.

    1. Yes, that reason for walking! I didn't know you'd fostered a dog. Lucky dog.

  9. You should be damn proud of yourself. Modern medicine gets a lot of credit, of course, but without all of your preparation and follow-up PT, you would not be walking to that pond. You're back!

  12. Hooray for the pond view!! It's amazing how fast you've recovered. Funny you should note the carolina wren song because I heard one just yesterday. I wonder fi they will nest in the tree outside our window like they've done the past couple of years.

  16. Marvelous, Liz! I've seen your mentions of the pond, but I only started reading your blog in the autumn, so I hadn't read of those voyages until today. I'm very happy for you! Here's my electronic high-five: iIIII (that's my thumb and four other fingers)

And, yes, another replacee can definitely understand. Such a renewal.

    2. Remember, long ago, Vangelis' Chariots of Fire theme? I was walking the other day, and feeling all happy about it. That popped into my head and it gave me a giggle. Contrast young fit men running to the song, and a gray haired woman walking (albeit at a good clip) to it.
